Further to last week’s announcement of the initial Members of the new "Cabinet+", consisting of both main portfolio holders and a number of cross-cutting lead members, BCP Council Leader Councillor Drew Mellor has announced three further lead member roles, working with councillors from across the council.

Explaining the roles, Cllr Mellor said:

"I’m extremely pleased to bring three further roles forward as promised and to really make the most of the excellent talent we have in the Council.

"Having made commitments to work with members from all across the council, I am delighted to welcome Cllrs Steve Baron, Nigel Brooks and Beverley Dunlop to team, and look forward to really utilising all of the skills that they bring."

Cllr Mellor continued, "Councillor Dunlop will focus on Cultural Events as well as working with the team on regeneration in the Bournemouth part of the conurbation. Councillor Baron will be our lead member on Biodiversity and Ecology, and also focus on Poole regeneration, and Councillor Brooks will work on bringing forward a BCP Retail Strategy, as well as lead on regeneration in the Christchurch area.

"Having launched the first three lead member roles last week, which focused on people-based priorities – Engagement, Equalities and Homelessness, these three further roles will focus on helping us take forward our amazing place and environment."

Deputy Leader Councillor Philip Broadhead added, "There is a great deal of excitement about bringing new, experienced members into the team. All of these members have extensive experience, outside of local government, in their areas of focus. I hope this announcement demonstrate our ongoing commitment to working with colleagues of all political parties, and none, but also that we will use the very best of the talents on offer to create a team that will really deliver for the residents of this fantastic area that we all love so much."
