Housing Related Support

Housing Related Support (HRS) services are available to help you gain necessary life skills to help you to live independently and continue your existing tenancy.

This support may include (but is not limited to):

  • managing a tenancy
  • cooking skills, laundry and cleaning
  • budgeting and paying bills
  • accessing health services
  • accessing education, training and paid work

Check if you're eligible for HRS

To be eligible for HRS, you must:

  • be aged 16 or over
  • be a resident of or have a local connection to Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole
  • have recourse to public funds for accommodation-based services or the means to fund a placement
  • require housing related support

HRS services cannot meet care or personal needs, so contact our Adult Social Care team to find out if you’re eligible for other help.

Supported accommodation

HRS Connect manages access into supported housing in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole and move on options for people moving within or leaving supported housing.

Supported housing is accommodation with staff on site (or visiting) to provide HRS.

Supported housing may not be the most appropriate option and cannot be used simply to meet a housing need. These services are only available to those with housing related support needs.

Professional referrals

If you are a professional referring your customer for supported housing, complete a duty to refer form. Your customer will be contacted to complete an assessment and their housing options will be discussed with them.

By submitting the form on behalf of someone else, you’re agreeing that you have their permission to make a referral and that you have shown them our housing privacy notice. You’ll need to keep your own record of this.

Referring yourself

If you are referring yourself, complete our housing advice form. An officer will contact you to complete an assessment and you will be advised of your housing options.

If you have any questions when completing the referral, email HRSconnect@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.

We’re available Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 4:30pm.

Support is also available if you are being evicted or served notice.
