Support for immigration and UK settlement applications

If requested, we can support a settlement/immigration for UK clearance application, in respect of housing conditions.

As this is not a statutory function, we charge £170 for this service.

Once we’ve received your enquiry, we’ll visit a visit your property and inspect it in accordance with the Housing Health and Safety Rating System. We’ll assess the property for statutory overcrowding in accordance with part X of the Housing Act 1985, based on the proposed occupancy of the property, should the application be successful.

Provided the property contains no Category 1 hazards and would not be statutorily overcrowded, a letter confirming this will be written, addressed to the appropriate British high commission or embassy. Although addressed to a British high commission or embassy, the letter will be sent to you, so that you can include it in your application package.

If your property contains a Category 1 hazard, the supporting letter will not be sent until the hazard is addressed. We'll then carry out another visit and reassessment to confirm that the works have been completed, and we’ll send you the supporting letter.

There will not be any further charge for this second visit and subsequent reassessment. However, if the property would be statutorily overcrowded with the proposed occupancy, we will not be able to support the application.
