Local Development Scheme

The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, as amended by the Localism Act 2011, requires us to prepare and maintain a Local Development Scheme.

The Local Development Scheme is a 3 year rolling project plan for the preparation of planning policy documents. Planning policies determine where we live, work, shop, play, how we travel around our local area and what impact we have on the environment.

We have prepared a Local Development Scheme (2024) that focuses specifically on the key milestones for the BCP Local Plan. As such, it provides the community and other interested parties with an indication of the stages of plan production, highlighting public consultation stages where interested parties can engage with us.

The Local Development Scheme came into effect on 9 January 2024 and covers the period to summer 2025.
