Renewal of vows and naming ceremonies

As well as legal marriages and civil partnerships we also provide some non-legal ceremonies. Please contact us if you wish to book one of the following ceremonies.

Renewal of vows ceremonies

A renewal of vows ceremony is an opportunity for you and your partner to renew your vows and confirm your continuing love and devotion for one another. You may be celebrating a special anniversary or you may simply want to pledge your love for each other once again.

Be aware that a renewal of vows ceremony is not legally recognised. You will receive a signed uncertified certificate.

A renewal of vows ceremony will be tailored to you. You will receive a ceremony planner to complete so that the registrar can create your ceremony but please include any particular wording you would like said. We are open to ideas!

As part of the ceremony you can:

  • exchange non-legal vows
  • say promises to one another
  • include poems, readings and music (no religious content)
  • exchange rings or gifts.

Naming ceremonies

Naming ceremonies celebrate a new arrival into your family. They can be arranged for babies, adoptive children and stepchildren of any age, and provide a non-religious alternative to baptism. A naming ceremony is a personal way of welcoming a child into the family and wider community for those who prefer a non-religious ceremony.

Be aware that a naming ceremony is not legally recognised and will not give any legal status. You will receive a signed uncertified certificate.

A naming ceremony cannot legally change a child’s name. You can see information for changing a name by deed poll on GOV.UK.
