The Twin Sails Bridge in Poole remains closed to road traffic after a second technical fault was found on the Hamworthy side of the structure.

Councillor Vikki Slade, Leader of BCP Council said,

"We are very disappointed with the situation with the Twin Sails Bridge and appreciate that residents and bridge users are understandably frustrated with the impact this closure continues to have on those travelling in the area.

"The Council continues to look at all means possible to support those who are travelling to and from Hamworthy, and to ensure reasonable measures are in place to reduce the impact of having only one bridge in operation ready for early September when the schools return.

"We are exploring enhancing alternative travel options to help ease traffic levels until both bridges return to operation in the Autumn.

"The issues around the ongoing problems with the Twin Sails Bridge are complex and longstanding and the Council is continuing to work with suppliers to resolve them."
