Local businesses in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole will soon receive £8.2 million in Local Restrictions Support Grants (LRSG) funding.

BCP Council will be issuing the available grant support to eligible businesses which have been required to close as a result of the latest covid-19 lockdown restrictions. The council intends to open the application process and provide further details on how to apply from next week (Monday 16 November).

Eligible businesses will receive a one-off grant to cover the four-week lockdown period running from 5 November to 2 December. The grant amount will be dependent on the rateable value of the business.

  • Properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or under – grants of £1,334 per four weeks of closure.
  • Properties with a rateable value over £15,000 and below £51,000 – grants of £2,000 per four weeks of closure.
  • Properties with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 and over – grants of £3,000 per four weeks of closure.

Councillor Philip Broadhead, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Economy, said:

"I am pleased to announce that grants will soon be made available to support local businesses that have been required to close during this second lockdown period. Our officers are working hard to set up the application process and we will endeavour to launch this support scheme as soon as possible. We will announce further details next week and I thank you for your patience during this challenging time.’’

"We remain determined to do everything we can to help our diverse business community. Over the coming weeks we will continue to look carefully at what we can do to support all sectors, including those key areas which play a critical role in the success of our economy.’’

In addition to the Local Restrictions Support Grant, £7.9 million will be provided to BCP Council to issue Additional Restrictions Grants up until 31 March 2022. This will include a discretionary scheme, with the details currently being considered. Once agreed the council intends to launch this second scheme as soon as possible.

From next week businesses will be able to apply for LRSG funding via the council’s website: bcpcouncil.gov.uk/lrsg
