Taking an important next step towards achieving its exciting vision for the Lansdowne area, the inclusion of two surface level car parks into the wider Cotlands Road regeneration scheme will be considered by BCP Council’s Cabinet on 12 February 2020.

At their next meeting, Members will be asked to approve an initial investment in one of the York Road car park sites to provide a new multi-story car park for residents and businesses.

Forming part of the Bournemouth Development Company’s overall Site Development Plan for Cotlands and York Road car parks, the investment will consolidate public car parking provision and enable a second phase of investment in the Cotlands Road site. This second phase will deliver new homes and office spaces, in addition to active ground floors for retail units, cafés and other small businesses.

Situated within Lansdowne’s dynamic business district and with good connectivity via the local public transport network to the town centre and beach, the investment in these sites will create a new and attractive place for people to live, work and study.

Councillor Mark Howell, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Culture at BCP Council said:

"This scheme will help to create new jobs, provide new homes and attract additional outside investment in Lansdowne’s thriving commercial, digital and education sectors. This recommendation proposes consolidation and re-provision of car parking, which will be a key enabling element of the scheme.’’
