Following Government’s Ministerial Broadcast on Monday 23 March 2020, the advice is that funerals can still take place, but with stricter control measures in order to contain the spread of COVID-19.

To protect both our residents and staff, the number of people who can be attendance will be restricted to 10, excluding the officiant and funeral director. Attendance should be restricted to immediate family members, including:

Spouse/Partner
Parents/Carers
Siblings
Children (and partners)

BCP Council understands that this decision will impact many people who will be mourning the loss of a friend or family member.

Webcasting all ceremonies affected will be offered free of charge, so that those who cannot attend can view the ceremony online, either by live streaming or at a later date.

All funeral directors have been advised of this change, so if these changes do affect you, the council urges you to contact your funeral director for further advice. Alternatively, you can contact BCP Council’s Bereavement Services.

If you are grieving and need help and support, please contact Cruse Bereavement Care- www.cruse.org.uk or call their helpline on 0808 808 1677.
