Roman Road

Roman Road is 2.8 miles long and was built around AD 43 as a supply route to a nearby fortress.


The entrance is via Upton Country Park, following signs for Bridleway one. The nearest postcode is BH18 9PA.


There’s parking at Upton Country Park and limited parking on roads near the reserve.


Dogs must be on a short lead when livestock is near and during the bird breeding season from 1 March to 31 July. At other times dogs must be under close control.


Deciduous woodland, remnant pine plantation and lowland heath.

Look out for

Great spotted woodpeckers and common woodland species.
