There is currently a waiting list for beach huts in Poole. The wait time can vary from 2 to 10 years. You can join the waiting list online.

Waiting times

If you state no preference when it comes to location, you’re likely to be offered a beach hut within 2 to 5 years.

If you do have a preferred location, this will greatly increase the waiting time, which for the most popular locations can be up to 10 years.

These are the approximate waiting times if you have requested a preference in the Poole area:

• Branksome Chine: 8 years
• Branksome Dene: 7 years
• Canford Cliffs: 8 years
• Flaghead Chine: 4 years
• Hamworthy: 6 years
• Sandbanks: 9 years
• Shore Road: 5 years.

How it works

To join a waiting list, you must be a BCP Council resident paying Council Tax to us.

The cost of joining a waiting list is £30. You can join as many lists as you like, paying £30 for each list you’re on.

When you reach the top of the waiting list and a beach hut becomes available, we’ll email you to let you know.

You’ll then have 10 days to accept or decline the offer. To accept, you must return the completed licence and documents required within the 10 day offer period. You will then be sent information on how to pay for your beach hut. Once you accept, you’ll be removed from any other waiting lists you’re on.

We will only offer you 2 beach huts while you’re on a waiting list. If you decline both offers or don’t respond, you’ll be removed from the list. You’ll then have to re-join by paying the £30 joining fee.

Changing your preferred type of beach hut

You can easily apply to change your choice of Poole beach hut on a waiting list you've joined.

This can be used to change your beach hut preference, for example, to a ground level hut, this can’t be used to join another waiting list.
