The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) is a key part of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda. It provides £2.6 billion for local projects until March 2025. The fund aims to make communities better places to live by investing in local areas, businesses, and skills.

The government has given £4.2 million to improve communities in Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole. This money is split into 3 areas: Local Business Interventions, Communities and Place Interventions and People and Skills Interventions.

For supporting business information, check our UK Shared Prosperity Fund page.

Support areas for Communities and Place include:

  • new local green spaces, and improvements to existing ones
  • funds for volunteering and social action projects
  • support in the growth of local civil society and community groups
  • investment in community engagement schemes
  • help to reduce the cost of living, including measures to improve energy efficiency, combat fuel poverty and reduce the effects of climate change

Grants up to £5,000 may be given for projects that foster community pride and belonging. The total amount is £50,000 for the year 2023/24 and £50,000 for 2024/25.

The fund also offers small grants for improving community buildings like community centres, hubs, or village halls. Grants up to £2,000 will be available. The total amount available is £30,000 for the year 2023/24 and £50,000 for 2024/25.

More details about the schemes and application process can be found on the Dorset Community Foundation website.
