Luscombe Valley

A Site of Special Scientific Interest with diverse habitats and rare species.

There are over 1.5ha of woodland at Luscombe Valley.

Entrance

The valley is a few minutes' walk from Evening Hill Viewpoint and borders Parkstone Golf Course.

There’s a gate at Shore Road and there is also access from Brudenell Avenue. The nearest postcode is BH14 8NE.

Parking

There’s limited parking on surrounding roads, such as Brudenell Avenue.

Dogs

Dogs must be on a short lead when livestock is near and during the bird breeding season from 1 March to 31 July. At other times dogs must be under close control.

Habitats

Luscombe Valley’s mixed habitats include:

  • open areas of gorse grassland
  • reeds
  • streams
  • seasonal ponds on the edge of Poole Harbour
  • wet woodland
  • ditches and streams.

Look out for

Kingfishers and sand lizards.
