Ham Common

Beautiful views to the Purbecks from heathland next to Poole Harbour.

A Site of Special Scientific Interest for its rare Eocene Epoch plant fossils, Ham Common has an adjoining beach, lake and area of woodland.

There are entrances at Lake Drive car park and the viewpoint car park on Napier Road at Rockley Holiday. The nearest postcode is BH15 4RW.

Parking

There’s free parking at Lake Drive car park and the viewpoint car park on Napier Road at Rockley Holiday Park.

Dogs

Dogs must be on a short lead when livestock is near and during the bird breeding season from 1 March to 31 July. At other times dogs must be under close control.

Habitats

Dry heath, lakes and reservoirs.

Look out for

Rare lizards, birds and plants.
