Boscombe Beach

Boscombe beach offers beautiful sandy beaches, the historic Boscombe Pier and stunning views across Poole Bay.

With a range of facilities, including a pub, restaurant, kiosks and popular diner, Boscombe is also home to a wide range of outdoor activities. Many accessible facilities are located here and Boscombe Undercliff car park next to the beach provides good level access.

There are beach guidelines to follow so that everyone can enjoy Bournemouth's beaches.

Parking

The closest parking to the beach is at Boscombe Undercliff car park, with Overstrand car park nearby.

Public transport

Timetables for buses to Boscombe from morebus.

The nearest train station is Pokesdown(1.2 miles) or Bournemouth (1.8 miles).

Cycling

Cycling is allowed, but pedestrians have priority. Keep your speed below 10mph and follow seasonal restrictions in place for July and August on seafront promenades and paths to avoid on-the-spot fines.

Cycling is allowed all year round between Boscombe Pier and Bournemouth Pier only.

Facilities at Boscombe Beach

Accessibility

  • accessible toilets at Boscombe Overstrand, next to Urban Reef restaurant and next to the Prom Diner, 200 metres west of Boscombe Pier
  • 3 wheelchair accessible beach huts for hire with access to an electric scooter charging point and a Changing Places toilet and shower
  • wheelchair-friendly land trains
  • a beach accessible wheelchair, available on a first come, first served basis from Boscombe beach office, between May and September, from 9.30am to 4.30pm (refundable £50 cash deposit required)
  • Mobi-Mat beach access matting in place from May to September.

Dogs

From 1 May to 30 September, dogs are not allowed on Boscombe beach and must be kept on a lead on the promenade, paths and zig zags at all times. Find the nearest year-round dog friendly beach and remember to pick up after your dog.

Barbecues

Electric barbecues are available between Easter and October from 10am to 10pm on a first come, first served basis. For more information and details of electric barbecue locations check our user guide.

You can have a disposable barbecue on Bournemouth beaches between 6pm and 10.30pm. Read the barbecue guide before you plan one.

Douse disposable barbecues with water after use and leave them next to the rubbish bins on the promenade for our beach cleansing team to collect once they have cooled down. Please dispose of all other rubbish in the bins provided.

Open fires

Open fires are not permitted on any of our beaches at any time. You may be prosecuted if you attempt to light an open fire.

Camping

Camping is not permitted on any of our beaches at any time. You may be prosecuted if you attempt to camp anywhere along the seafront.
