Arts for children and young people

We deliver and support high-quality arts and cultural experiences and opportunities to increase the confidence, aspirations, skills and wellbeing of all children and young people in the area up to the age of 19.

Our Arts Award is a nationally accredited qualification for young people aged 11 to 25 which helps them develop as artists and arts leaders. We also run family arts events throughout the year in the community and have projects for new young writers.

Young people in the area can find out about arts news and events through Spark Dorset, or take part in PowerPlay, a youth music project based at Bourne Valley Youth Centre and the Henry Brown Centre.

Wave is the arts education agency for the Bournemouth and Poole area, while Soundstorm develops innovative, exciting and diverse musical opportunities for young people and the wider community.

Wave also facilitates the Cultural Hub programme. This is a consortium of schools and arts and cultural organisations working together to plan and deliver high quality cultural and creative learning opportunities for children and young people in the Bournemouth and Poole area.
