How your budget is calculated

If you are eligible for services, your personal budget will then be calculated, they are designed to be flexible and fit your personal circumstances. This is a sum of money allocated to cover the cost of your support. The way this money is used will be detailed in your support plan and will depend on whether you wish to arrange services for yourself, or if you wish us to arrange them on your behalf.

Depending on your financial circumstances you may need to contribute towards your personal budget. This is known as your personal contribution which will be determined by a financial assessment of your ability to pay.

Managing your budget

You’ll need to decide how you want to receive and manage your personal budget; there are three options to choose from:

• direct payments from us, giving you complete control
• support arranged by us – this is where we will select your care and support from our own services or from other organisations we work with
• a combination of both of the above options

If you’re not sure, ask your social worker which of the options best suits your needs/outcomes.
