    • Ongoing

As part of this project there will also be significant improvements to the quality of the wall-mounted lights in the High Street:

  • the new lights will have a design that is more sympathetic to the Conservation Area and streetscene

  • the opportunity will be taken to ensure the wall-mounted lighting is positioned, as far as is practical, at a uniform height on the buildings – about 6m

  • currently these lights are positioned at different heights. Placing the lights at 6m will ensure an even spread of light and ensure compliance with British Standard 5489-1

  • the new lights will also have a colour temperature of 2,700 kelvin, which will also address ecological issues regarding bats, where a temperature below 3,000 kelvin is required

  • the new lights will deliver a 75% saving in energy usage and cost and a 6.75 tonne saving in carbon per year
