There are free training courses available to help you if you provide care to an adult. You can also find practical skills and learning opportunities for carers.

Caring for someone with dementia

Kings Park Hospital runs a 10-week carer support and education group for carers of a person with dementia living in the Bournemouth or Christchurch area. For more information, call 01202 705 568.

The Carers Trust has free online courses about caring for someone with dementia.

Oakley Friends runs a 10-week information course, twice yearly for carers of a person with dementia. For more information, contact the Leonardo Trust on 01202 698 325.

Caring for someone with mental health issues

The Dorset Recovery Education Centre provide free training courses if you’re caring for someone with mental health issues. The courses are mainly held out in the community, so you should not have to travel too far to attend.
