Remembrance Day Services taking place across the BCP Council area

Councillor Nigel Hedges, Chairman of BCP Council:

"We are pleased to announce that traditional events of commemoration will be taking place at each war memorial in all three of our towns in the BCP Council area on Sunday 14 November. Residents will have the opportunity to come together to remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces and emergency services, from Britain and the Commonwealth, that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.''

Bournemouth:

Sunday 14 November

Bournemouth’s Annual Service of Remembrance and Parade will take place at the War Memorial in the Central Gardens. The commemoration will be attended by the Mayor of Bournemouth, Councillor David Kelsey, and the Bournemouth Charter Trustees and Civic Dignitaries.

The parade will be led by The Salvation Army Band who will play the bugle alongside the Field Gun Display Team to mark the start and end of the two-minute silence.

The Service commences at 10:55am and will be led by Reverend Dr Ian Terry, with music provided by the Salvation Army Boscombe Band and the Bournemouth Combined Cadet Force Band.

Please be advised that Braidley Road, Bourne Avenue and Avenue Road will be closed to vehicle access from 9:00am until 1:00pm.

Poole:

Sunday 14 November

The Annual Service of Remembrance and Parade will take place at the War Memorial in Poole Park.

The Poole Sea Cadets Marching Band will lead the parade and play the bugle alongside the Poole Field Gun Display Team to mark the start and end of the two-minute silence.

The Service will commence at 10:50am and will be led by Reverend Reg Baldock, with music provided by the Poole Borough Band.

Please be advised that Poole Park will be closed to vehicle access from 7.30am until 1pm.

Christchurch:

Sunday 14 November

The traditional Remembrance Service will begin at Purewell Cross War Memorial at 9:15am followed by a procession led the Royal British Legion, Armed Forces Units and Civic organisations from the Royal British Legion.

A wreath laying ceremony will take place at the Garden of Remembrance at the Priory Church at 10:15am, prior to the commencement of the main Remembrance Service at 10:50am which will include a two-minute silence.

Members of the public who wish to join the Remembrance Services are encouraged to wear face coverings.
