Plans to build new council houses at Moorside Road in West Howe will be considered as part of the Council’s commitment to providing more housing across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

Councillors at Cabinet on 24 June 2020 will be considering proposals to develop 14-four bedroom houses in West Howe that would be made available to families currently waiting on the Council’s housing register.

Councillor Kieron Wilson, Portfolio Holder for Housing, said: "Providing more housing is a key priority for the council. In particular, there is a big demand for larger sized homes suitable for families and there can be a significant wait for this type of property. I am really pleased to bring forward the plans to develop this scheme which will contribute further housing to our council housing stock and provide local families with a fantastic home."

If approved by Cabinet, construction will start later this year. Each house would be fitted with solar panels to increase energy efficiency and each home will have its own parking.

The construction of the homes would be managed by the council’s Housing Development Team and cost £2.3M, funded through prudential borrowing.

The report will go to Overview and Scrutiny on 15 June before being presented at Cabinet.
