Children aged between 9 and 11 can win one of several book token prizes next month as part of the first ever BCP Council Book Mastermind competition, run by the libraries at Broadstone, Boscombe and Christchurch.
Entrants will be quizzed on their favourite book and will also answer questions about their general knowledge. Any book currently in print counts, be it an old classic, a new Christmas present, or borrowed from the library.
Heats take place on Saturday 25 January 2020 from 2.30pm, with the grand final on Saturday 29 February at Broadstone Library.
To enter, collect an application form from your local library, and return it, completed, to either Broadstone, Boscombe or Christchurch Library by Monday 30 December.
Winners will be announced at the final by local author Sarah Lean, and will win book token prizes sponsored by Westbourne Bookshop.
Councillor Vikki Slade said: "I am delighted that BCP Council is running this competition for children aged 9-11. I have fond memories of taking part in a similar event when I was around this age and sharing my passion for my favourite author in this way.
"The reading challenge is such a popular event for younger children and anything we can do to develop children’s love of books should be encouraged. I would like to thank Westbourne Bookshop for their generosity with the prizes and hope lots more children will register to be part of Mastermind."
