Unveiled last week as a bold and ambitious initiative to establish Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole as the festival coast, Festival Coast Live! today opened online small grant applications, specifically for existing (not for profit) community events or the contracting of new themed placemaking activities for communities who wish to participate in the entertainment and activity programme to start late Spring.

Over 200 people and groups have already registered an interest in participating and this next stage of funding is more positive news in establishing the late spring/ summer programme of entertainment currently being curated.

Councillor Beverley Dunlop, Lead Member for Festival Coast Live!, said; "The response so far has been fantastic and today we’re opening online grant funding applications. Funding is available to host a new event, expand an existing event or for specific costs to make an event Covid-secure, to help not for profit individuals, community groups or organisations who want to be part of the pop-up experience. It’s important for applicants to remember that to work with the locations we have identified, these events will be taking place outdoors."

Grants could be awarded for up to £1,000 for COVID measures required to stage an event, up to £2,000 for additional event content enhancements and there are a number of grants available for up to £5,000 to support new not for profit outdoor musical/performance activities and event. Funding applications are for organisers of events or a wider range of activities only and individual entertainers and groups keen to perform are encouraged to continue registering their interest.

Added Councillor Dunlop; "We are proud of our multi-cultural and diverse community and want to connect with them to offer a colourful, bold programme of entertainment that everyone can engage with irrespective of age, ability, ethnicity or circumstance. We are especially keen to hear from minority groups who often miss out on these opportunities. We are looking forward to discovering some amazing local talent!"

Already confirmed, the Arts by the Sea Festivalwill be curating a special programme of cultural events throughout the outdoor season showcasing local professional and community performers.
