Level 3 cycle training for children
This Bikeability Level 3 course is for children aged 10 or over who want to improve their skills after successfully completing levels 1 and 2.
It will give children the confidence to tackle a wider variety of traffic conditions on more challenging roads and junctions.
The 2-and-a-half-hour course is for children who live or go to school in Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole. It covers:
- responding to hazards
- making ‘on-the-move’ risk assessments
- queuing traffic
- understanding advanced road positioning
- hazard perception and strategies to deal with them
- understanding driver blind spots, particularly for large vehicles
- reacting to hazardous road surfaces
- route planning for safer cycling.
It’s easy to book a place online.
Not every child is ready to complete their Level 3 course straight after their Level 1 & 2 course, so please speak to their Level 1 & 2 instructor first before booking a place.
Please note that we do not allow the use of BMX bikes on a Level 3 course due to the restrictions they place on the rider's vision and mobility.
We’ll shortly be introducing an online payment system for our Bikeability courses. A charge of £10 per child will be introduced once the new booking system has been changed to accept online payments.
If you book a course before the new online payment system is in place, you will not be charged, but please note that these charges will be introduced soon.
Our Bikeability scheme is part subsidised by The Bikeability Trust, via DfT funding.
