Report needles, syringes and hazards

Needles, syringes or other hazards

We remove hypodermic needles, syringes or other hazards found on council owned land.

What to do if it's not council land

Education premises (schools, nurseries etc)

Report to the premises staff directly. Staff on site are trained to deal safely with such items.

We do not remove needles, syringes or other 'medical sharps' from people's homes. For medical sharps which have been generated by treating a medical condition, such as diabetes, ask your GP or pharmacy for a sharps box. Once this is full you can return it to them for safe disposal.

Illegal drug-related sharps should be taken to a pharmacy offering a needle exchange service. See the Public Health Dorset website for needle exchange pharmacies.
