Waste and Recycling service

From 1 April 2020, we will be managing Christchurch’s waste and recycling collection service.

If you are a Christchurch resident, you will be receiving a welcome pack from us in the post. This pack contains all the information you need to know about your new service with us and includes an introduction letter, an eight-page information leaflet and a handy collection calendar to remind you of all your collection dates over the next year.

The welcome packs are being delivered to every household in Christchurch during March, so if you haven’t received one by Wednesday 25 March, then please contact us.

In the meantime, your service from the Dorset Waste Partnership will not change, it will remain the same until 1 April when we take over the service.

After 1 April, you will continue to receive fortnightly rubbish and recycling collections and weekly food waste collections. It will even be the same refuse crews collecting your bins, so they know the collection routes well. 

You will also be able to recycle more items in your recycling bin including aluminium foil and tetra pak cartons. In addition, you will need to add your glass jars and bottles in with your main recycling as you kerbside collection box will no longer be collected. 

You are welcome to keep your kerbside collection box for other uses, or you can dispose of it at your local Household Recycling Centre 

On the day of your general waste and recycling collections, you will receive two collections - one vehicle will collect your general waste or recycling bin and another vehicle will come round and collect your food waste.
