Sevenoaks Drive

A series of walking and cycling improvements are planned for the Sevenoaks Drive area that will form part of a sustainable travel route running between Bournemouth Railway Station to/from Jumpers Common.

About the plans

Following a review of the responses received during the consultation period we have developed our designs for Sevenoaks Drive and adjoining streets. The designs now include:

  • Introducing raised junctions and realigning the two junctions where Cowell Drive meets Sevenoaks Drive
  • Work on the quiet route, Littledown Lane, to improve access for pedestrians
  • Additional road markings on Sevenoaks Drive and Walkwood Avenue to indicate cyclists may be riding in road
  • Providing a segregated cycle path and footway, plus lighting improvements, that link Sevenoaks Drive to the existing facility that runs through King’s Park.

The introduction of the raised junctions is subject to a separate legal process, and a Notice of Intent (Under the Highways Act 1980) has been published outlining the changes in detail. Comments are invited on the proposals until Friday 17 March 2023.

The proposed improvements along Chaseside are subject to further design development and more information will be available via our website once this work has been completed.

Public consultation

A public consultation on these proposals was undertaken between 24 February – 31 March 2021. All responses were analysed and have helped to shape the current scheme designs. A report summarising the results is available here.
