Housing support for Ukrainians
Call out to landlords and agents to help Ukrainian refugees into housing
We are looking for landlords, agents and people with lodgings who can help Ukrainians exiting the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
Financial incentives will be given as a thank you to those who can help support Ukrainian guests with refugees also eligible for payments to help make the house a home.

Self-contained tenancy in the private rented sector (minimum term 6 months)
Landlords or agents can offer private tenancies for Ukrainian refugees.
- a £1,000 thank you payment, when an Assured Shorthold Tenancy starts in self-contained accommodation (that is affordable for the tenant).
- the first month's rent paid in advance
- a deposit of one month's rent
- up to £2,000 for the tenants, for furniture and items to help make the house a home.
Offer of a room for rent to a lodger
- a £1000 thank you payment (this will be after the initial 12 months if it's a transition from hosting a guest or after 6 months if lodging arrangement is new)
- the first month's rent paid in advance
- a deposit of one month's rent
- support to set up a rental agreement
- training and support for landlord and lodger.
Offer of a room in a licenced House in Multiple Occupation (HMO)
- a £500 thank you payment
- up to £2,000 for repairs and maintenance (per HMO address)
- first month's rent paid in advance
- deposit of one month's rent
- support to set up an agreement
- £500 for each tenant, for furniture and items to help make the HMO a home.

Landlords are encouraged to contact our resettlement team on email resettlement@bcpcouncil.gov.uk or by calling 01202 123 987 if they have a property to offer. Ukrainians can also enquire about housing support through the same means.
Please note that properties will need to be visited by council representatives and any relevant health and safety concerns reviewed. New accommodation must be of suitable condition and be affordable.
We will request gas safety certificates and energy performance certificates for self-contained tenancies and ensure all accommodation is of a decent standard before providing financial support.
