Stour Valley Park strategy
From Christchurch Harbour to Kingston Lacey along the 22km stretch of the River Stour, our vision for Stour Valley Park is for an easily accessible, innovative, sustainable and high-quality regional park.
This space has a rich and thriving biodiverse habitat that offers recreational, landscape, heritage, cultural and resource management benefits in which local communities, landowners and businesses can take pride and ownership.
Funding through the Future Parks Accelerator has allowed us to bring in specialist design agency Landstory who are coordinating engagement with a host of partners and developing a long-term strategy for the park. The Stour Valley Park work stream is preparing to undertake consultation activities with members and local residents regarding the creation of the park from Christchurch Harbour to Kingston Lacey. We've undertaken a landscape character assessment across the existing trail and river crossings and have been exploring funding options to enable us to bring our vision to life.
