Green Infrastructure Strategy

We are creating a plan for our green spaces through what is known as a Green Infrastructure (GI) Strategy.

This will set guidelines for how we will manage, protect, fund and develop these spaces over the coming 25 years.

Early work in this area involves:

  • an audit of the 300 (approximately) parks and open spaces across the BCP Council area
  • appointing a consultant in the field of GI strategies to help us devise and write a new 25-year strategy that will inform the Local Plan (as drawn up by the Local Planning Authority)
  • recruiting a fixed-term mapping specialist
  • working with Vivid Economics, a strategic economics consultancy, on a groundbreaking tool which puts a financial value on keeping and maintaining our green spaces.
