Christmas Tree Recycling

Compost your Christmas tree

In many locations, local charities can collect your real Christmas trees for a small donation after the festive period.

Please check if they are collecting in your area and book early to arrange your collection to avoid disappointment.

Diverse Abilities

Local disability charity Diverse Abilities can recycle your Christmas trees for a small donation of £10. They collect from most areas including Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, but check on their website and make sure you book your collection in early to avoid disappointment.

Dorset Mind

The mental health charity Dorset Mind can recycle your Christmas trees for a small fee of £10. All chip produced from these trees will then be sent to power stations as biofuel. They collect from poscodes BH1-BH24 and BH31.

Upton Country Park

Alternatively, you can take your Christmas tree to Upton Country Park for composting. Residents will be able to bring their real trees to be recycled in the entrance car park at Upton Country Park from 27 December 2022 to 10 January 2023. Please note we only accept real trees.

Recycling Centres

You can also take your tree to our recycling centres for composting.

Please note, these sites are closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Garden waste service

If you've signed up to our garden waste service for 2023, you can cut up your Christmas trees and place them in your garden waste bin ready for the first collection in February 2023.
