Important information for key workers and childcare provision

Commitment to key workers

The Government has made a commitment to ensuring the children of key workers can continue to access suitable childcare provision during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. BCP Council will ensure this happens with effect from Monday 23rd March.

The Government has provided guidance on who is considered to be a key worker. If your work is critical to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) response, or you work in one of the critical sectors identified by the government, and you cannot keep your child safe at home then your children will be prioritised for childcare provision.

Childcare arrangements

Ensuring appropriate childcare arrangements to enable you to work is a major priority for us and we are working with urgency in partnership with BCP childcare providers to deliver on this commitment.

At this time, the majority of our childcare providers remain open and you should be able to continue with your normal childcare provider. If, however, your provider is closed or you are experiencing other difficulties, we will work with you to find prompt, alternative arrangements.
