Marriages And Civil Partnerships - Weddings
From Monday 28 September, up to 15 people, but no more, can attend a marriage or civil partnership - and only where this can be safely accommodated with social distancing in a COVID-19 secure venue.
This maximum number includes the couple, witnesses and guests. It does not include the registrars, any third-party suppliers, such as photographers or security, staff employed by the venue or any third party catering staff.
The guidance for small marriages and civil partnerships has been updated to reflect the changes and this includes a link to guidance on receptions.
Numbers in our ceremony rooms
We've risk assessed the rooms where we conduct ceremonies and the numbers are limited as follows to ensure appropriate social distancing is maintained.
In addition to the registrars:
- The Register Office & Room 1837 – the couple plus 2 attendees - Fully booked for 2020
- The Willows & the main hall in The Guildhall – the couple plus 13 attendees.
Face coverings are required in places of worship. This includes guests at wedding or civil partnership ceremonies. Face coverings will not have to be worn by the bride or groom and can be removed where required for the ceremony.
