Death registrations

Death Registrations 

We can only take death registrations by phone across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. 

Informants will not be able to come to our offices. You will be contacted by phone to collect the required information. This may be at a pre agreed appointment time. 

If you have received a phone call from an administrative support officer, a registrar will need to contact you again to confirm the details you gave over the phone. This will allow the registrar to send out the necessary paperwork to the funeral director and issue the certificates. 

If a registrar contacts you, they will complete the registration and send out the necessary documents. 

The Medical Certificate Cause of Death will be sent electronically to the Register Office along with contact details of the next of kin, providing the GP has obtained the necessary consent. 

You will also be able to complete the tell us once process at the time of registration which informs central and local government of the fact that someone has died.
