If you are currently struggling with your finances or are worried about managing your money, you can contact the Let's Talk Money team who can provide free help and guidance. Contact the team Monday to Friday from 10am - 4pm. 

Are you struggling to meet your council tax payments?

There is support available if you are having difficulty during the coronavirus pandemic. 

Our recovery processes for non-payment have been significantly reduced to allow you to:

  • claim any support or grants available
  • withhold or reduce payments whilst hardship funds are applied to accounts.

We realise that Council Tax can sometimes be a struggle to pay each month, and we want to help you. If you cannot pay your bill, let us know as soon as possible so that we can discuss option with you.

Claiming child benefits 

If you are a parent of a new-born you are still able to claim Child Benefit.without having to register your child’s birth first to ensure you do not miss out.

First time parent?  

You will need to fill in Child Benefit Claim form CH2 and send it to the Child Benefit Office. If you haven’t registered the birth because of COVID-19 please ensure you add a note with your claim. 

Already claiming child benefits?  

You can complete the form or add your new-born’s details over the telephone on 0300 200 3100. You will need your National Insurance number or Child Benefit number.

Direct Payments

We will continue to pay your Direct Payment into your account as usual every 4 weeks. You should continue to pay your assessed charge unless a different arrangement has been agreed by us.

Post Office help including Cash Delivery Service

If you have a Post Office Card Account (POca) there's helpful information and service updates including the launch of a cash delivery service on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions for those who are shielding.

If you are having trouble accessing your money due to being isolated you should:
