Virtual Ceremonies

We are continuing to offer virtual citizenship ceremonies until further notice using Microsoft Teams.

After you have applied to become a British Citizen and been accepted, you will receive a letter from the Home Office Inviting you to contact us to book a Virtual or a group citizenship ceremony, this letter will contain the Poll number which is needed in order for you to attend a ceremony. The ceremony is where you will be officially welcomed as a British citizen in front of your family and friends.

The cost of the ceremony is included in your citizenship application fee.

You must have your ceremony within 3 months of receiving your letter, which is currently extended to 6 months due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

Attending a Virtual Ceremony

You can visit the Microsoft Teams website, or download the Teams app which is free of charge.

You will need to use a device with a working:

  • camera
  • microphone
  • speaker.

You will be asked to present your documents to the camera.

It is necessary for you to be able to see the whole image (the Registrar, the flags and picture of the Queen), so your device will need to be in landscape mode.
