Who to contact for help
National support is available
The government/NHS have contacted many people to let them know how to get help. If you have a medical condition that makes you extremely vulnerable and you haven't already been contacted by your GP or hospital clinician, make sure you tell the government so they can support you if needed.
Register yourself, or on behalf of someone else.
If you are struggling to pay for the cost of energy in your home (heating, cooking, lighting) or water bills (including sewerage) then a range of support is available. Citizens Advice Bournemouth Christchurch & Poole are working in partnership with ourselves and the Together We Can initiative to provide help with affording utility bills.
I have nobody to help me
If you need help and do not have any family, friends or neighbours who can support you, and you are not already in contact with us through the NHS or social services, please let us know.
Community Response Helpline
Our dedicated helpline is here to support you if you need vital support while isolating at home during the coronavirus outbreak.
What we can help with
We link you up with volunteers or council staff who can deliver essential food or household items.
There are volunteers available to talk to you on the phone or through video chat if you are feeling worried and lonely during this period of isolation.
You can also get in touch if you have a specific need because you are:
- struggling with food access.
Complete our online form to ask for help.
Your form is passed to our assessment team to review and respond. Unfortunately due to the level of demand we can't give you a specific time for response, but we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
Need urgent help? Call our helpline
The dedicated helpline is 0300 123 7052 and will be open 9am – 5pm, Monday through Friday.
This number is for those who urgently need help and have no-one else. Please do not call if you have a local support network already in place.
Need BSL (British Sign Language) support when contacting our helpline?
You'll connect to a SignVideo interpreter and they will confirm the BCP Council COVID Helpline. You will then be connected and start the conversation in BSL.
