BCP Economic Recovery Task Force
We are leading a coalition of businesses and organisations that will take appropriate actions as places and businesses start to re-open. Together, we aim to ensure this takes place in a safe and coordinated manner whilst also supporting the recovery of our local economy and business community.
The BCP Economic Recovery Task Force has been established to identify and act on the issues that businesses are facing by bringing together the voices of key stakeholders and ensuring that there is a coordinated and collaborative response. A list of organisations and services has been provided.
Bournemouth Town Centre BID
The Bournemouth Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) has funded a scheme with the Daily Echo to provide PR/advertising support for businesses. They are also issuing regular newsletters on the latest guidance, lobbying government for more support, continuing their gift card scheme to encourage spending and are planning a town centre marketing campaign in addition to offering free 1-to-1 HR advice with a dedicated phone-line and webinar.
Poole BID is issuing regular newsletters and social media on the latest guidance and available support from government. They are also contacting businesses regarding available grant support, reviewing email marketing campaigns for promoting the area, updating their website to help businesses re-opening, distributing signage to encourage social distancing, assisting with online trading, engaging and promoting the health & safety aspects of social distancing in high streets as well as procuring the tools to do so.
Christchurch BID Steering Group
Christchurch BID, whilst not yet formally established, is supporting businesses through the Steering Group, sending email updates of the latest guidance and support.
Dorset Chamber of Commerce
Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry has implemented a support helpline to answer queries from businesses. They are also signposting and providing the latest guidance on their website/social media pages (including video updates), collating information from businesses on key issues, lobbying government, holding online networking and policy events, producing online magazine and offering exporter advice.
Bournemouth Chamber of Commerce
Bournemouth's Chamber of Commerce is collaborating with other town chambers on ideas, collating and communicating feedback from businesses to the government, providing updates on guidance through their website, social media and newsletters.
Christchurch Chamber of Commerce
Christchurch Chamber of Trade and Commerce is collaborating with Bournemouth Chamber, BCP Economic Development Team and Christchurch BID, on during and post Covid 19 recovery and re-opening strategies for businesses. Alongside local and central government, its own members and business owners in Christchurch they are collating and communicating feedback from businesses to the government, and providing updates on guidance from Central and local government through their media platforms.
Dorset Gateway has provided a helpline through Dorset Chamber, around capital investment in health, DIT support on exporting, bid writing service for innovation grants and business impact monitoring (surveys). They are also providing regular communications of updates through newsletters, socials and their websites, engaging ministers on issues, funding support for businesses, introducing programmes for supporting redundant workers, highlighting grants to schools to deliver Gatsby and other resources, plus working with partners on various programmes to boost economic recovery.
DWP has a dedicated website with advice and guides for finding jobs and demonstrating skills. The website also features a job matching service to help individuals match their skills to new job opportunities and provides employer guidance on redundancies and recruitment.
Dorset Growth Hub
The Dorset Growth Hub is running regular webinars on the latest guidance and support available, running training webinars on specific topics such as HR and finance, while also hosting specific online events for the digital and finance sectors. They have also established the Dorset Growth Fest for later in the year, entered discussions on establishing a Dorset fund for businesses, run a marketing forum and hosted the You Are the Media club. They've now offered to host DEMC meetings and will be working with Crowdfunder.
Federation of Small Businesses
FSB coronavirus hub has opened with all the latest business guidance, hosting free guidance webinars. The organisation is also providing an FSB Skills Hub, fortnightly networking sessions for businesses and hosting online event explaining benefits of membership.
The Bournemouth Daily Echo is providing editorial coverage on businesses and sectors opening back up, providing public reassurance messaging, highlighting advice and support and partnership working on advertising campaigns with BIDs, Chambers and BCP Council.
Destination Management Board
The board is surveying local businesses for feedback and issues relaying these to DCMS, providing guidance on support and recovery plans, planning out timescales for recovery relating to lockdown phases and aims to provide confidence in visiting and doing business in the area.
Silicon South support the Creative and Digital sector and have launched their ‘Mission 21’ programme for support, collaboration and promotion of the sector. This includes direct support for business leaders such as grants, access to specialists and mentors, director discussions, topic-relevant workshops, shared research and meet the buyer events. It also includes an extensive network of other creative and digital businesses to share information and collaborate with. Furthermore, they work towards skills and talent promotion in the area and lobbying for additional funding for the sector.
