BCP - social worker recruitment

How we work

The Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area has one of the highest proportions of older people with high levels of care needs in the country.

Our adult social care service provides long-term support to over 3,600 people including arranging domiciliary care and care home provision; delivering hospital discharge services including preventing hospital admission and helps keep people safe through quality safeguarding services. The quality of regulated social care - care homes and home care provision - in the local area is very good with 89% of providers being rated as good or outstanding. Alongside the 158 care homes and 85 home care agencies working in the area, there is extra care housing, supported living, day opportunities and advocacy services plus a wide variety of independent and voluntary sector providers who offer support within our local communities.

How we work

We support a culture that fosters excellence and collaboration – a place where social workers are empowered to be creative and share ideas and advice. The teams are structured to encourage and develop multi-disciplinary working, particularly with NHS partners.

We support our social workers to ensure they have the resources they need to make a difference where it counts.

As an Adult BCP Social Worker, you will:

  • work in partnership with service users to enable them to live as independently as possible
  • implement the principles of the Mental Capacity Act
  • provide cover and support to the duty system
  • carry out continuing health care assessments and safeguarding investigations
  • ensure improved outcomes for vulnerable adults
  • have an excellent working knowledge of the 2014 Care Act
  • provide comprehensive support for ASYE applicants
  • have opportunities for a specialist role within the Sight and Hearing team.
