VE Day 75 + 1

VE (Victory in Europe) Day in May 2021 marked 76 years since the end of the war in Europe. The sacrifices and conflict continued until August 1945.

The towns of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole played important roles in the war effort – at sea, in the air, and on land. Thousands of residents experienced war first hand in the military, in factories, in hospitals, and at home.

Commemoration event 15 August 2021

The Society for Poole, in association with the Royal British Legion, is holding a VE/VJ heritage event at Poole Quay from 1pm to 5pm with music and displays. Visit the history boards along Poole High Street for the story of Poole's part in World War II.
