Lake Pier

Lake Pier is an inner harbour sand and shingle beach. Nearby you’ll find Ham Common Nature Reserve and a Special Site of Scientific Interest.

The nearest train stations to Lake Pier are Hamworthy (0.8 miles), Poole (1.6 miles) and Holton Heath (2.6 miles).

There’s no promenade at Lake Pier, but there is a designated cycle route nearby.

Accessibility

You can access Lake Pier beach by ramp.

Dogs

Lake Pier is a designated dog beach and can be used all year round.

From 1 May to 30 September, dogs are not allowed on Blue Flag beaches and must be kept on a lead on the promenade, paths and zig zags at all times. Find other year-round dog friendly beaches and remember to pick up after your dog.

Barbecues

Barbecues are not permitted on Lake Pier beach at any time. You may be prosecuted if you attempt to light a barbeque.

Please help us to protect the nearby fragile heathland ecosystems by adhering to this rule.

Open fires

Open fires are not permitted on any of our beaches at any time. You may be prosecuted if you attempt to light an open fire.

Camping

Camping is not permitted on any of our beaches at any time. You may be prosecuted if you attempt to camp anywhere along the seafront.
