How to pay your council home rent in Bournemouth or Christchurch
You should pay your rent fortnightly, or monthly in advance. There are lots of different ways you can pay
Universal Credit
You’re responsible for paying your rent to us if it is no longer paid for by Universal Credit.
Whichever method you use to pay your rent, remember to use your ten-digit unique payment reference number. You’ll find it on your quarterly rent statement or any rent letters we've sent you. Contact us if you do not know your reference number.
Online payment
You can pay online with a debit card or credit card.
Select 'Council Rent' from the drop-down menu. Have your payment reference ready.
Please note that when using this payment method, it will show on your bank statement (regardless of type of payment) as: ‘Online payment BCP Council’.
Direct Debit
Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay your rent.
Download a Direct Debit Instruction form or call us on 01202 123 300 to set one up.
Once the Direct Debit is set up, your rent money will be taken automatically from your bank account on the first of each month or fortnightly.
Standing order
Set up a standing order for a fixed amount and date to pay your rent. You must remember to tell your bank if the amount of your rent changes.
You'll need to use this information when you set up your standing order:
- account name: BCP Council – Income
- sort code: 20-68-95
- bank account number: 20627437
- your rent payment reference.
Rent payment card
Pay your rent at any post office, free of charge, using a rent payment swipe card. Contact us to request a card.
