Initial Submissions Consultation
Following the petition, a formal consultation period, inviting initial submissions took place from 15 July to 1 September 2019.
The council appointed a Community Governance Review Task and Finish Group to oversee the community governance review and to consider submissions received during the initial consultation phase.
75 online responses were received to the consultation, with seven further written responses.
In making its recommendations, the Task and Finish Group has been mindful of the initial submissions and balanced these against the council’s wider requirements and duties to ensure that community governance within the area under review reflects the identities and interests of the community in that area; and is effective and convenient.
Results of this consultation have fed into the recommendations made by the Task and Finish Group that were presented to Cabinet on 9 October 2019 and approved for consultation by Full Council on 5 November 2019.
