Household Support Fund
The Household Support Fund (HSF) is provided by the Department of Work and Pensions and administered by BCP Council. It provides short-term financial support to vulnerable households who struggle to afford household essentials. Citizens Advice BCP manage and allocate HSF applications for BCP Council residents.
Vouchers will be issued to BCP residents who meet the eligibility criteria within 4 to 6 weeks.
To be eligible:
- You must live in the BCP Council area
- You will be over the age of 16 and living independently of parents or carers
- You are struggling to pay for essentials because you don’t have enough money to pay for them
- You can provide the required proof of your identity, BCP Council residency and household financial information, including a summary for every person in your household not in full-time education. You may also be required to provide proof of income, such as a recent bank statement.
The application process includes information and further support options to enable households to find longer term solutions. Citizens Advice BCP’s team will try to support you if you are unable to complete all sections of the application. It is therefore important to ensure that your contact details are correct.
Grant vouchers will only be issued to the named applicant, or the person nominated by them to receive vouchers on their behalf. The grant is limited to one applicant, per household. We cannot accept multiple applications from the same person or for other members of their household.
The Department for Work and Pensions has extended the Household Support Fund until the 31 March 2023. However, funding is limited, so vouchers will be allocated to eligible applicants on a first-come-first-served basis.
