BCP Council is asking for your views on the Heritage Action Zone programme which proposes to develop local Heritage Action Zones (HAZ) on Poole High Street. We would like to understand your connection with the high street and how the programme could affect you.
The £95 million government-funded High Street Heritage Action Zone programme, which is being delivered by Historic England, aims to unlock the potential of high streets across England, fuelling economic, social and cultural recovery.
Sixty-eight high streets nationally have been offered funding to give them a new lease of life. BCP Council is working in partnership with Historic England to develop and deliver a HAZ scheme on Poole High Street that will aim to transform and restore disused historic buildings into new homes, shops, workplaces and community spaces, and to improve their settings.
Five HAZ Zones on Poole High Street have been proposed:
- Zone 1 - Old Town: Quayside to Orchard Plaza
- Zone 2 - New Orchard Junction
- Zone 3 - Weston’s Lane / Carter’s Lane
- Zone 4 - North Street Junction (The Parade)
- Zone 5 - Hill Street/ Globe Lane Junction
We would like to hear your views on these proposals and also about your relationship with the high street.
You can find all the key details in the Information Document. Please read all the information and complete the survey to give us your views and let us know whether you would like to be part of the HAZ project.
The engagement will run from Friday 16 October 2020 until midnight on 22 November 2020.
If you have any questions about the engagement or need the documents in a different format, please email HAZ@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.
Following this engagement process, a full report on the findings and outcomes will be presented to Poole High Street HAZ Board.
