What is in a Budget statement

Section 251 budget statements are compiled near the start of the financial year and show the planned spending for education for each financial year, including how much we:

• intend to spend on the local authority budget outside the schools budget
• propose to retain centrally within the schools budget for school services.

These statements inform schools and the public about our funding and expenditure plans. They provide detailed information in a form that allows benchmarking by schools forums and authorities.

Section 251 Outturn statements show the actual expenditure and are compiled at the end of the financial year.
