How to prepare for your financial assessment

To prepare for an assessment, you should create a checklist to think about the information you will need to provide and the documents you need to have available.

You should check you have the evidence for these documents and write out the amounts you receive or pay each month:

  • pension statements (state and/or private)
  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payment (PIP) statement
  • Income Support statement
  • Attendance Allowance statement
  • annuities/trust income
  • savings - bank statements, passbooks or certificates
  • property ownership records
  • unit trusts/ISA statements or certificates
  • premium bonds
  • cash
  • mortgage/rent payments
  • Council Tax payments
  • fuel bills (gas, electric, oil, solid foil)
  • water bills
