If you have seen somewhere you think would be beneficial to residents and would like to donate a bench, please email commemorate@bcpcouncil.gov.uk with either the GPS coordinates or use the What 3 Words app to help us to locate the space. Please attach a photo of the space if possible.

If you have seen a bench in place that does not already have a fixed plaque, it may be available to donate. Please contact us with the above information so that we can check for you.

Once we receive your request, we will consult with the area supervisor to check if the space or bench is available.

If your request is approved, we will let you know the cost and send you an application form - this PDF is an example of an application form you will be sent and includes our terms and conditions. Find out what to do if your request is refused.

Cost guidelines

There are a number of factors that affect the price and the prices on this page are a guideline only. This factors include:

• bench style
• plaque style
• location
• and installation requirements

We will confirm the final price will be once your application has been reviewed.

Price bands

There are quite a few different bench styles used in our parks, seafront and open spaces.

Some of these styles are very simple to maintain and repair, whilst others take a little more time and money.

‘Price Band A’ are the most simple styles through to ‘Price Band C’  are the most intricate and therefore the most time consuming to maintain.

We will tell you which style is available in the area you are looking for and confirm the Price Band of that style.

Please include the bench reference number we give you on the application form in either the reference box (online) or on the back of the cheque.

Commemorative bench agreement

Once you have paid, you will be sent a commemorative seat agreement. The agreement outlines the terms and conditions and a start and end date. The agreement usually lasts between 5 years for an existing bench and 10 years for a new bench and then 5 years thereafter, depending on the location and project they are a part of. We will be in touch before it expires to ask if you’d like to renew.
