Overview

End of life care is support for people who are in the last months or years of their life. It should help you to live as well as possible until you die and to die with dignity.

The people providing your care should ask you about your wishes and preferences and take these into account as they work with you to plan your care.

They should also support your family, carers or other people who are important to you.

The following organisations have support available for you:

  • NHS Choices has a guide to end of life care
  • Marie Curie offers expert care, guidance and support to people living with any terminal illness and their families
  • Dying Matters has a directory of services for people in the last years of life, their families, carers and friends
  • Macmillan Cancer Support provide information, advice and support for people with cancer, as well as their families and carers
