School term and holiday dates

School term and holiday dates are usually set over 14 months before the academic year starts. They are based on a school year of 195 days.

Schools can decide to operate different term dates. Schools can also use five days during the school year for staff training.

Please contact your child’s school to find out which dates they are operating.

2023 to 2024

  • Autumn term: 1 September 2023 to 15 December 2023
  • Autumn half term break: 23 October 2023 to 27 October 2023
  • Christmas holiday: 18 December 2023 to 1 January 2024
  • Spring term: 2 January 2024 to 28 March 2024
  • Spring half term break: 12 February 2024 to 16 February 2024
  • Easter holiday: 29 March 2024 to 12 April 2024
  • Summer term: 15 April 2024 to 23 July 2024
  • Summer half term break: 27 May 2024 to 31 May 2024
  • Summer holiday: from 24 July 2024

Bank and Public holidays 2023 to 2024

  • Christmas Day: 25 December
  • Boxing Day: 26 December
  • New Year's Day: 1 January
  • Good Friday: 29 March
  • Easter Monday: 1 April
  • May Day bank holiday: 6 May
  • Spring bank holiday: 27 May
  • Summer bank holiday: 26 August.

2024 to 2025

  • Autumn term: 2 September 2024 to 20 December 2024
  • Autumn half term break: 28 October 2024 to 1 November 2024
  • Christmas holiday: 21 December 2024 to 5 January 2025
  • Spring term: 6 January 2025 to 4 April 2025
  • Spring half term break: 17 February 2025 to 21 February 2025
  • Easter holiday: 5 April 2025 to 21 April 2025
  • Summer term: 22 April 2025 to 22 July 2025
  • Summer half term break: 26 May 2025 to 30 May 2025
  • Summer holiday: from 23 July 2025
